Do you love Hengistbury Head as much as we do?
We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly people to join our community of volunteers!
Whether you’re looking to gain new skills, meet local residents, or simply give back to this beautiful location, your time makes a massive difference. To keep the centre running smoothly, we are currently focusing our recruitment on three priority areas.

Our Priority Roles
These roles are the heartbeat of the centre. To help us stay organised, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2–4 hours every two weeks on a regular schedule.

Reception &
Administration
Be the first friendly face our visitors see! You’ll be helping us stay organised and welcoming.
The Role: Greeting visitors at the front desk, answering phones, signing people in, and responding to emails.
Extra Responsibility: May include opening or closing the centre.
Commitment: Set hours during the week (e.g., every Wednesday afternoon).

Café team
(Baristas & Servers)
Love the smell of fresh coffee? Help us run our café and keep our visitors fueled for their adventures.
The Role: Serving refreshments, taking payments, and keeping the café area tidy.
Perks: We will provide and pay for your Food Hygiene Certification if you don’t already have one!
Shifts: Mon–Fri, 08:00–11:00 (Morning) or 12:30–15:30 (Afternoon).

The 'Sparkle Team' (Cleaning)
If you take pride in a job well done, we need you! Our Cleaning Team ensures the centre is fresh and ready for our daily classes.
The Role: Helping with general cleaning and tidying to keep the centre shining.
Shifts: Early birds (06:00–08:00) or Evening stars (18:00–20:00), Monday through Friday.
We want your volunteering experience to be rewarding and safe.
What you can expect from us
Every volunteer receives:
- A Formal Induction: Including fire safety and role-specific training.
- Dedicated Support: You’ll have a Volunteer Co-ordinator to guide you.
- Expert Training: Safeguarding or Food Hygiene training where required.
Note: To join us, you’ll need to provide proof of ID, address, and emergency contact details. Some roles may require a DBS check.
