A Community Venue with a Difference
Hengistbury Head Outdoors has been founded as a Community Benefit Society with charitable status. Our services, events and activities seek to keep this beautiful site open and available to the local community. Previously known as the Marine Training Centre, the centre has historically touched many local lives. Through the power of volunteers and community, the site came back to life in June 2026. With your help, we want to keep it open for the next 100 years!
Headland Cafe
Open Monday - Friday 8-4pm.
Serving Bad Hand Coffee, New Forest Tea Co. and a host of delicious snacks, cakes and soup.
Art Cabin & Sauna
Kindly donated and re-built by volunteers, the art cabin hosts a variety of workshops and classes. It is also available for hire.

Fitness Classes
Classes Mon-Fri. From strength classes to dance and Tai Chi, you're bound to find a class you love, with a view that can't be found anywhere else.
Water Sports
HHO hosts several water sport clubs, including sailing, canoeing, dragon boating, and outriggers.
In 2027 expect sailing, paddle boarding, and kayaking courses!
Volunteering
HHO runs primarily on volunteers. With only two full-time employees, HHO would be lost without its volunteer base! If you want to get involved, email info@hengistbury.org
Events & Hire
There's monthly events, from sea shanties to creative workshops! Plus the centre and its rooms are available for hire, whether you need a space for team building or a place for a big birthday party!

Slomo Sauna x HHO
We are so excited to announce Slomo Sauna are now at HHO.
Slomo x HHO is a very beautiful site based on the north facing side of Hengistbury Head facing Christchurch Harbour. Nestled between reed beds at this newly revamped outdoor centre with so many other activities to try when you’re not in our beautiful wood fired sauna or cold plunge…a real Dorset delight.

Water Sport Clubs at HHO
Hengistbury Head Outdoors hosts a number of different water sport clubs, including Hengistbury Head Sailing Club, Southbourne Canoe Club, Bournemouth Outriggers Canoe Club, Pink Champagne Dragon Boat, Pilgrim Bandits and Mudeford Sea Scouts.
Hengistbury Head Sailing Club, Southbourne Canoe Club and Bournemouth Outriggers Canoe Club are all open for members of the public to join. Pink Champagne and Pilgrim Bandits are charities which have particular member requirements which can be seen on their websites.
